Agricultural Productivity and Sustainable Farming Techniques

Training Course on Agricultural Productivity and Sustainable Farming Techniques

Duration: 5 Days

Location: Nairobi

Achieving higher agricultural productivity while preserving the integrity of natural resources is one of the most pressing challenges of modern agriculture. With increasing global demand for food, shrinking arable land, soil degradation, and climate variability, farmers and development actors must adopt sustainable farming practices that boost yields without compromising future productivity.
This course is designed to equip participants with practical, science-based strategies to enhance agricultural productivity in an environmentally sustainable and economically viable manner. It introduces participants to key sustainable farming techniques such as crop rotation, integrated soil fertility management, organic farming, conservation tillage, water use efficiency, and integrated pest management. The course also explores innovations in sustainable intensification, regenerative agriculture, and precision farming.
Through hands-on learning, case studies, and field-based simulations, participants will develop the skills and knowledge needed to support farming systems that are resilient, productive, and climate-smart. Emphasis is placed on participatory approaches, gender inclusion, and alignment with national and global sustainability goals such as SDG 2 (Zero Hunger) and SDG 13 (Climate Action).
