cost-benefit analysis training

Cost-Benefit Analysis Training for Managers 2026

Duration: 5 Days

Location: Nairobi

Course Overview

Every major decision involves trade-offs. Cost-Benefit Analysis (CBA) gives you a structured way to measure those trade-offs and choose the option that delivers the most value. This course teaches you how to apply CBA to real projects, policies, and investments.

You will learn how to identify and quantify both financial and non-financial costs and benefits, apply discounting techniques, and calculate key metrics including Net Present Value (NPV), Benefit-Cost Ratio (BCR), and Internal Rate of Return (IRR). The course also covers sensitivity analysis, risk assessment, shadow pricing, and how to evaluate who gains and who loses from a given decision.

The course draws on appraisal frameworks used by governments, donor agencies, and multilateral development banks. You will work through Excel-based modeling exercises and real case studies covering infrastructure, social programs, business investments, and regulatory reforms.
