Training Course on Financial Accountability in Humanitarian and Development Aid
Duration: 5 Days
Location: Nairobi
Course Overview
Humanitarian and development aid projects operate in high-stakes environments where transparency, integrity, and effective financial stewardship are not only ethical obligations but also key determinants of continued funding and impact. Donors and implementing partners alike demand robust financial accountability systems to ensure that aid resources reach intended beneficiaries and are used efficiently.
This course is designed to equip participants with essential knowledge and skills for ensuring financial accountability in the planning, implementation, and close-out phases of humanitarian and development projects. It emphasizes accountability to donors, partners, communities, and regulatory authorities, with a focus on compliance with international standards and donor requirements (e.g., USAID, ECHO, DFID/FCDO, UN agencies, World Bank).
Participants will learn to design and apply internal financial controls, implement transparent reporting mechanisms, conduct fiduciary risk assessments, and manage audits effectively. The course blends real-world case studies with practical tools for enhancing financial transparency, managing aid flows, and reducing risks of mismanagement, fraud, and donor sanctions.
