Training Course on Financial Sector Performance Evaluation and Impact Assessment
Duration: 5 Days
Location: Nairobi
Course Overview
Assessing the performance and developmental impact of the financial sector is crucial for policymakers, regulators, development partners, and institutional leaders aiming to foster inclusive and sustainable growth. Understanding how financial institutions contribute to economic development, financial inclusion, enterprise growth, and poverty reduction requires systematic evaluation and evidence-based impact assessments.
This course provides an integrated approach to evaluating financial sector performance—covering banks, SACCOs, MFIs, fintech, and capital markets—through both financial and developmental lenses. Participants will explore key performance indicators (KPIs), scorecards, impact measurement frameworks, and modern tools for evaluating efficiency, outreach, sustainability, and systemic contributions. The course introduces practical techniques for designing performance assessments, analyzing institutional and sector-wide data, and reporting findings to support decision-making, policy formulation, and donor reporting.
Special attention is given to impact assessment methodologies, including theory of change, contribution vs. attribution analysis, and outcomes tracking, with a focus on financial inclusion, gender equality, rural outreach, and SME development.
