Dairy Value Chain Development and Milk Quality Assurance Training Course

Duration: 5 Days

Location: Nairobi

Course Overview
The dairy industry is a major contributor to food security, rural livelihoods, and national economies, especially in mixed farming and peri-urban systems. However, the sector often faces systemic challenges including low productivity, post-harvest losses, inadequate milk hygiene, weak market linkages, and limited value addition.
This course provides a comprehensive approach to developing efficient, inclusive, and competitive dairy value chains. It covers all stages from input provision, animal husbandry, and milk production to collection, processing, distribution, and marketing. Special emphasis is placed on milk quality assurance, hygiene protocols, regulatory compliance, and value addition opportunities.
Participants will gain practical insights into stakeholder coordination, business models for dairy enterprises, dairy cooperative management, and cold chain logistics. The course also explores innovative solutions to increase milk yields, reduce contamination, and promote sustainable dairy development.
