agricultural finance and access to credit training

Agricultural Finance and Credit Access Training 2026

Duration: 5 Days

Location: Nairobi

Course Overview

Most smallholder farmers have the land, the labor, and the will to grow. What they lack is access to finance. This training gives you the knowledge and tools to close that gap, whether you work in extension, banking, agribusiness, or rural development.

You will explore how agricultural finance systems work and why so many farmers are still left out. The training covers credit products designed for farm settings, including input loans, asset leasing, warehouse receipt systems, crop insurance, and mobile lending platforms. You will also learn how value chain finance and public-private partnerships can expand access at scale.

Sessions are hands-on. You will practice credit analysis, work through real loan scenarios, and learn how to help farmers prepare proposals that financial institutions will actually approve.

By the end of this training, you will be able to:

  • Explain how agricultural finance systems and rural financial markets work.
  • Identify the barriers farmers face when trying to access credit and how to address them.
