Training Course on Agricultural Finance and Access to Credit for Farmers

Training Course on Agricultural Finance and Access to Credit for Farmers

Duration: 5 Days

Location: Nairobi

Course Overview
Limited access to finance remains a major barrier for smallholder farmers and agribusinesses, constraining investment in inputs, technology, and infrastructure necessary for productivity and profitability. Bridging the finance gap is critical for enabling inclusive agricultural growth, value chain development, and rural transformation.
This course provides a practical and comprehensive understanding of agricultural finance systems, credit products, and financial inclusion strategies tailored to the needs of farmers and agri-entrepreneurs. Participants will explore the design and delivery of farmer-friendly financial services—such as input credit, leasing, warehouse receipt systems, crop/livestock insurance, and digital lending platforms.
It emphasizes the development of bankable proposals, risk mitigation tools, creditworthiness assessment, and linkages between farmers, financial institutions, and value chain actors. The course also covers innovative financing mechanisms and public-private partnerships to scale inclusive finance solutions.
