Course Overview

A budget that looks good on paper but fails in execution costs institutions money, credibility, and trust. Most budget problems do not start at the end of the year. They start with weak planning, poor forecasting, and gaps in control during implementation.

This course covers the full budget management cycle from start to finish. You will learn how to prepare a credible, policy-aligned budget, execute it within approved limits, and maintain the controls needed to stay compliant and accountable throughout the year. The course is built for public institutions, government departments, and NGOs where budgeting is tied directly to service delivery and development results.

Sessions are practical and hands-on. You will work through real budget scenarios, use actual templates and reporting formats, and build skills you can apply in your institution the following week. The course also addresses the real challenges budget managers face, including fiscal constraints, late disbursements, procurement delays, and performance reporting pressures.

By the end of this training, you will be able to:

  • Explain the principles and legal frameworks that guide public sector budgeting
