Crop Management with Pest Control and Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Training Course
Duration: 5 Days
Location: Nairobi
Effective crop management is essential for maximizing yields, maintaining plant health, and ensuring food security. However, pests, diseases, and poor agronomic practices continue to limit productivity in many farming systems. This course is designed to strengthen participants’ capacity to implement comprehensive crop management strategies that are sustainable, environmentally responsible, and economically viable.
Participants will explore the full spectrum of crop management—from land preparation and crop selection to nutrient management, irrigation, and post-harvest handling. A special focus is given to Integrated Pest Management (IPM), a holistic approach to pest and disease control that emphasizes prevention, monitoring, and minimal use of chemical pesticides.
Through hands-on activities, field-based simulations, and participatory learning, the course builds knowledge in diagnosing pest and disease problems, using ecological control methods, and designing site-specific crop management plans. The course also promotes sustainable techniques such as crop rotation, biological control, resistant varieties, and climate-resilient agronomic practices.
