Drone (UAV) Mapping and GIS Integration Training Course
Duration: 5 Days
Location: Nairobi
Course Overview
Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), commonly known as drones, have revolutionized the way spatial data is captured and utilized for planning, monitoring, and decision-making. This course provides participants with hands-on expertise in drone-based data collection and the seamless integration of UAV outputs into Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for high-resolution mapping and spatial analysis.
Participants will gain an understanding of drone technologies, types of UAV sensors, mission planning, flight operations, and data acquisition workflows. The course covers essential aspects of drone regulations, safety procedures, and legal compliance. It also introduces photogrammetry principles and post-processing techniques for generating orthomosaics, digital elevation models (DEMs), and 3D point clouds using drone imagery.
The GIS integration component focuses on importing, analyzing, and visualizing drone-derived products within platforms like QGIS, ArcGIS, and other spatial analysis tools. Practical exercises simulate real-life applications in agriculture, land management, infrastructure development, environmental monitoring, and disaster response.
