Training Course on Participatory Monitoring and Evaluation Techniques
Duration: 5 Days
Location: Nairobi
Course Overview
Participatory Monitoring and Evaluation (PM&E) is a collaborative approach that actively involves stakeholders—particularly beneficiaries and communities—in the design, monitoring, and evaluation of projects and programs. This course equips participants with the principles, methods, and tools to implement inclusive and empowering M&E processes that foster ownership, transparency, learning, and accountability.
Participants will explore the conceptual foundations of participatory M&E and gain hands-on experience using tools such as participatory rural appraisal (PRA), community scorecards, focus group discussions, outcome mapping, and stakeholder-led data collection. The course emphasizes the practical integration of participatory techniques into conventional M&E systems to ensure that feedback loops drive meaningful improvements.
By involving stakeholders in assessing progress and results, PM&E enhances relevance, responsiveness, and sustainability of interventions—particularly in development, humanitarian, and governance contexts.
